Are there alternatives? Are they any better or is the wifi on the G85 just terrible? I'd rather not buy half a dozen $25 "camera remote" apps and have them all suck just as bad. Has anyone else had this experience? What is so difficult about making a remote control app? You're making your own Wifi network and the only thing you have to talk to is an app you also wrote, it should work flawlessly. Just now it did this during a running recording, and when the app came back and reconnected to the camera it moved the focus box on its own and ruined my recording. I've gone through this sequence of steps more than I've actually shot with it in a week. if I kill the app and restart it, sometimes it allows me to go back to Remote Control, other times it still won't see the camera. It either sits there telling me it can't see the camera, or it pops up a dialog saying it's waiting for the camera to send the iPad photos. I go to the right place and I can see that the iPad is still connected, so I switch back to the app. It them launches Settings and takes me to the wrong place in Settings.

I also can't see the LVF very easily where it is, so I was naively hoping the app would at least work properly on my iPad Pro.ĭoes this thing suck for anyone else? The app says the wi-fi connection fails just about every five minutes. I recently picked up a G85 and I'm doing some filming with it in a weird place in a corner on a tripod and I'd rather not touch it more than I have to (I don't vlog, which apparently is an edge case these days for any camera under $6,000).
